Jet Airways suspends pilots

Indian carrier, Jet Airways, has suspend two senior Boeing 777 pilots after it was discovered both had left the cockpit unattended during an argument in early January 2018. The aircraft was operating a flight from London to Mumbai when the pilots reportedly exited the cockpit due to a misunderstanding, The cockpit was unmanned for under a minute whilst the aircraft continue flying under autopilot. The occurrence was reported to India's Director General of Civil Aviation who made the decision to suspend the pilots whilst an investigation is underway.
Garuda delays aircrafts orders

Indonesia flag carrier, Garuda, has announced that it will be deferring all new aircraft deliveries for the entirety of 2018. The airline stated it will focus on the better utilisation of its existing fleet before adding new aircraft to its operation. The airline will be delaying the orders of 49 Boeing 737 and 14 ATR 72-600 aircraft which had originally been scheduled for delivery throughout 2017-2020.
Qantas performs first biofuel flight

Australian Flag carrier, Qantas, has performed the first Transpacific flight using biofuel. Flight QF96 from Los Angeles to Melbourne, was operated by a Boeing 787-9 with approximately 10% fuel load derived from non-food mustard seeds. The airline claimed the new biofuel mix will save approximately 18 tonnes of carbon emissions per flight and aims to increase the fuel mix ratio to 50% by 2020.
