The Philippines has officially been withdrawn from the EU Ban list
July 01, 2015
In late June 2015, all airlines operating under the jurisdiction of the Civil Aviation Administration of the Philippines (CAAP) were officially withdrawn from the EU banned list of carriers. All Filipino-based carriers were placed on the EU ban list in 2010 after the EU determined that the CAAP failed to adhere to internationally recognised standards in regulatory oversight. This ban consequently prohibited all carriers operating under the oversight of the CAAP from operating within European airspace. Since this time, the CAAP has worked to successfully improve the regulatory standards within the Philippines. As a result, the EU has now determined that the CAAP adheres to the required standards and has subsequently moved to remove all Filipino-based airlines from the ban list.

Indonesian government abandons plans to recapitalise Merpati
June 01, 2015
In late April 2015, The Indonesian Government officially announced that it had withdrawn plans to recapitalise the defunct state-owned domestic carrier, Merpati Nusantara Airlines. In January 2015, Merpati cited that it had temporarily suspended operations due to the carriers escalating debts. The airline stated that the temporary grounding would allow it to undertake a restructuring and consolidation process, with the airline then noting that it expected to recommence operations in late March 2015. However, in late April 2015 the airline officially declared that it would be permanently ceasing operations.

Tigerair Philippines rebrands as ‘Cebgo’
June 01, 2015
As a part of its acquisition by Cebu Pacific, Tigerair Philippines has officially been re-branded as ‘Cebgo’. Tigerair Philippines was wholly acquired in March 2014, with Cebu Pacific successfully acquiring the 60% share previously held by SEAir Inc. and the remaining 40% shareholding from Tiger Airways Holdings. The airline will shortly commence the process of updating its brand and livery to Cebgo, which will included new uniforms for staff, updated motifs and a new aircraft livery. While the aircraft will continue to operate under the Tigerair branding and livery in the short-term, it is expected that the airline will eventually be amalgamated into the Cebu Pacific operation.
